Have a Ball
How did Xerox break through C-Suite executives’ busy schedules and take them out to the ball game? By bringing the sounds, scents, and a souvenir of the national pastime right to their desks with an elegant boxed invitation containing a 50th anniversary baseball (“Have a ball”) and confirmation of their attendance (“Have a seat”).
When the box is opened, the scent of fresh grass rises from inside as the invitee hears the roar of a crowd and a real baseball announcer, generating excitement about what awaits them.
Xerox/Mets Soundtrack Script
Welcome, Ladies and Gentlemen.
You can almost smell the freshly cut grass and hear the crowd getting warmed up.
Xerox is looking forward to you joining us at Citi Field.
It all starts now with a special pre-game souvenir—your exclusive autographed baseball.
[Sound of a bat hitting a ball]
…to play ball!
[Crowd roars and sound fades off]
Xerox is a proud sponsor of the New York Mets and manages their document services so they can focus on the real business of baseball.
As part of this unique package, guests were instructed to bring the ball to the game where it was signed by a selected New York Mets legend. That moment was captured with a photo, which was framed as a collectible “baseball card” to serve as an exclusive memento of the event and a special thanks for their participation.
It Was a Home Run
The campaign generated 100% attendance at the event and, most importantly, garnered 50 new executive relationships for Xerox to nurture.
