5 Creatively Inspiring Stories

Creativity is at the heart of what we do at Bleu. Naturally, it’s important to occasionally look to other creators. Whether you have a case of writer’s block or are stepping outside of your comfort zone, listening to other artists/writers/doers is a great way to find inspiration. Enjoy! 1. A New Sketch Everyday from Pascal Campion Pascal Campion is a French-American illustrator living in our very own San Francisco. To keep his creative juices flowing, he creates a sketch once a day, every day of the week. Impressive, to say the least. This article from The Fox Is Black highlights some of his awesome work and gave us the creative itch. 2. Sucking is the First Step to Being Sorta Good at Something
Alexis Ohanian is the co-founder of  reddit, so it’s safe to assume that he has the secret recipe to success, right? Wrong. He claims, “I still don’t know what I’m doing.” He encourages everyone to “suck” in this 99u Podcast. Wait, what? He says his complete ignorance of the industry when he first launched reddit back in 2005 was crucial for his success. After all, ignorance is bliss, right?
3. TED Talks This has to be one of my favorite ways to get inspired. Simply focus on your computer screen for a couple of minutes and you’ll be left feeling the need to create something, anything! Sting’s TED Talk How I Started Writing Songs Again, is the story of how he overcame extreme writer’s block by writing what he knows, even if that’s the part of his life that he’d like to leave behind. 4. Inspirational Quotes I know, I know, this one can be a bit cheesy, but words are a great way to get inspired. It can be as simple as searching for some motivational quotes on Pinterest or scanning the internet for quotes from your favorite author. Find the words. Then, set the image as your phone or computer wallpaper so you’re constantly reminded (plus, it’s way cooler than one of those sunset pictures that come standard). a391e7521533718ce59681477de4c883   fd707f5c3db8b38ebc44ff5e044a5cc3 5. 29 Ways to Stay Creative This short video created by TO-FU and shared by 99u  gives you 29 ways to stay creative and inspired. In under two minutes, turn your rut into a creativity hotbed. The first step is to make a list…guess what, this article is a list! If I can do it, so can you! Fear is the killer of creativity. Don’t be scared to put your ideas into the universe. So get started. Put the pen to paper, pencil to sketchbook, hands to playdo, whatever! Just create.
